Funaab Celebrates 30th Year Anniversary (Jan 1st 1988 - 2018)

FUNAAB AT 30!

Congratulations to our Prestigious University on the 30th Founders day. Only a few days ago, I was discussing with our leader one of our past President on how the University celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2013. It's been 5 years since then and I'm pleased and honoured to be President of the Union at this historic time of the 30th.

We are aware of the glorious past this University has had, which attracted admiration from the whole world. The University has engaged in vibrant
partnership with  communities and With character and academic excellence as our core values, we have embraced the visionary ideals
and values of the University Founders. Today, the University is one of the
best in the nation.  Indeed, the founders would share our joy and pride!

Despite being one of Nigeria leading research institutions, the 1 of the three Agricultural University in Nigeria, and a well recongnise institution in thr world and, of course, far and away  the one of best University in the Africa , FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE ABEOKUTA still has that uncanny knack of feeling like no any other place. And so it must have done to generations of undergraduates before us – in fact 30years worth.

 It’s knowing that so many of FUNAAB finest brains and great achievers gained – and continue to gain – inspiration from this place that makes us so proud.


 On behalf of everyone in the Students Union, I extend my Heartiest congratulations to all those past and present who have guided and shaped the University in its evolution. And to the entire management, Staff and Student of this historic University. I celebrate the accomplishments of the past and anticipate the great achievements of the Future!

[FACTS TO KNOW ABOUT FUNAAB]

1)FUNAAB was established on the 1st of January 1988 by the federal Government when four universities of Technology were demerged.

2)Funaab is one of the three universities of Agriculture in Nigeria,the other being in Makurdi (Benue State) and Umudike(Abia State)

3)Funaab is a *PUBLIC RESEARCH UNIVERSITY* with motto: Knowledge for Development

4) Presently,Funaab is having 529 Academic Staff,1447 administrative  Staff,2538 students (Funis),15,095 undergraduates,1640 postgraduates.

5)Funaab Official Colour is GREEN
6) Professor Nurudeen Olorun-Nimbe Adedipe is the pioneer VICE CHANCELLOR of FUNAAB.

7) FUNAAB started off from the old campus of Abeokuta Grammar School, Isale-Igbein near the city centre. It completed its movement to its permanent site along Alabata Road in 1997.

8)At the initial stage, five colleges were introduced in the university in October 1988 as follows: COLAMRUCS,COLANIM,COLERM,COLNAS,COLPLANT
_
COLENG & COLVET were introduced in March 2002.

9)COLAMRUCS was splitted into 2 colleges during the 2008/2009 session namely: COLAMRUD & COLFHEC.

10)The university has 179 academic programmes made up of 44 undergraduate programmes, 135 graduate programmes which include 22 Postgraduate diploma programmes, 57 Masters degree programmes and 56 Doctorate degree programmes..
