[Football] Mbappe Scores On PSG Debut


Unai Emery handed a debut to new signing Kylian Mbappe, who started in the attack alongside Edinson Cavani and Neymar.

After 11 minutes, Julian Draxler nearly gifted the PSG the lead but the midfielder's close range striker was turned away by Eiji Kawashima.

The visitors eventually went ahead in the 31st minute. Neymar cut the Metz defence open with a fine pass that found Cavani, who rounded the goalkeeper and fired into an empty net.

PSG's joy was short-lived as Metz found an equaliser through Emmanuel Riviere, who headed home Mathieu Dossevi's cross.

That proved to be the final chance of the half, as the sides went into the break with the score level at 1-1.

Metz were reduced to 10 men 10 minutes into the second half when Benoit Assou-Ekotto received his marching for a dangerous challenge on Mbappe.

PSG took advantage of the numbers game and restored their lead in the 59th minute as Mbappe fired home from close range, following a cross from Draxler.

The visitors nearly extened their lead six minutes later but Cavani's thumping effort crashed against the crossbar.

PSG continued to dominate and they bagged a third goal in the 69th minute courtesy of a fine curling effort from Neymar.

The fourth goal arrived after 75 minutes when Mbappe turned provider to pick out Cavani, who poked the ball home from seven yards out.

With the visitors comfortably leading, Emery withdrew Cavani and Thiago Motta for Giovani Lo Celso and Lucas Moura in the 79th minute.

PSG rounded off the scoring in the 87th minute with a scuffed effort from close range, after getting on the end of Thomas Munier's cross.

The big win sees Emery's charges move top of Ligue 1, while they have also maintained their winning start to the season
