Tho we tend to notice the movement that is lately displayed by individuals, As long as we are open to finding out more, we will never stop learning. ... "It takes a whole village to raise a child. ... we are not blind to the short comings of management But I would like to remind us of the sacrifice ASUU paid for suspending there annual leave to keep the system running even against the wish of the of it members& also the system was crippled for almost 4month by other organs of the union NASU, NAT&SSANU The STUDENT'S UNION was on suspension for a session also in a state of dilemma, we met so many problems on ground which all we are doing is rejuvenating the image of Students Union. Our clamoring for early resumption led us to most of the challenges we are facing TODAY but we will surely overcome. We will not fold our arms for evil to befall us.

*VERIFICATION OF O’ LEVEL RESULTS OPTIONAL BUT IMPORTANT

As a result of the update on the student portal published on Monday 04/04/2018 that returning students should verify their result and are to pay N700 for the validation. The student union leaders required of the university management the reasons for the sudden development and they noted the following;
The verification is as a result of the management embarking on e-registration as they want to completely do away with manual way of compiling results as it would aid swift clearance, detecting falsified result, preventing disparity of results, ease collection of transcript and NYSC MOBILIZATION & Cost of evaluation of result by World Education Services (WES) for Verification of results as always demanded by foreign universities. NOTE that post graduate students too just finished doing the same verification of result the undergraduate are just asked to do.
The student union demanded why and what the N700 would be used for, after critical and comprehensive screening; the money is not generated for the university that why remita was not used instead the money is for the examination bodies WEST AFRICA EXAMINATION COUNCIL and NATIONAL EXAMINATION COUNCIL to get a e-pin validation code to access the result. The student’s union leader and the university management were able to reach a conclusion that the verification of O'level should be OPTIONAL but IMPORTANT for students to undergo as a result of the benefit attached but the University will distance itself from any students which may in turn have one problem or the other in future.

*THE ERRATIC STATE OF ICT

This has been evident on the student portal as it unstable and unpredictable, The V.C explained the major reason is because of the change in the university webhost from a privately-owned organization to an international physics based organization for effective and efficient control. The university management pleaded that students should bear with them as transferred and upload of data is still being processed by the ICT staff.

*TRANSPORTATION ISSUE

In the next few weeks there would be significant changes to the transportation issues as the students’ union as partnered with a company that would provide about 60 mini buses and 20 (18-seater buses) this is evident.

The V.C noted that mancot that was just recently repaired has been damaged again and again and the money allocated by Tetfund to buy additional buses is yet to be by approved by Tetfund. But more money has been released for refurbishment, transportation issue has been a great concern to the management and they are trying their best to savage the situation as the current MANCOT is over 7-10years and management met the mancots grounded which they are trying to raise the dilapidation state of MANCOT of over 7-10years to normal.
RESULT Errors & Lecture Theatres.

The student’s union pointed out some shortcomings from the part of the school management as regards previous result errors overtime. A committee has been setup immediately to look into the integrity of results before pasting. Furthermore, students will not be required to pay for errors made by the school such as cases of 0 (F). The students’ union was able to push for a further extension of 2 days for rectification which now end on Friday 8th of June 2018. The management has also promised to improve the state of the lecture room and significant changes would be made before the end the month to get the necessary equipment for fixing.

*HEALTH CENTER

The issues faced by funaabites was pointed out to the university management which they agreed in the affirmative but promised to devote their untiring concern to the health center as they would introduce e-prescription to the health system this would help reduce que, help monitor and control the drugs prescribed. Also, recruitment of more staffs’ doctors would be done and DVCA further explained that NHIS would be extending the health center building soon.

*ELECTRICITY

As a result of the epileptic power supply and the total black out that was experienced last week the V.C, DVCA, DVCD alongside the students union leaders visited IBEDC to complain and figure out what was wrong we were promised that the light would be restore as soon as it is available though they clearly stated that the epileptic power supply is a product of the state of the Nation as it a social problem been faced over the country they agreed to be supportive to the university community but noted that we are getting the best at the moment. The students’ union charged the university to get additional generators as there's a big burden on the generator serving the university and the V.C stated that 800KVA is under repair and that the management are already at the verge to purchase a new 3MVA generating set that can serve the entire university environments against the 2.6MVA the school is generating. The management has also looked into the university environment light.

The Students Union has pride itself in intellectualism over hooliganism and would not compromise the interest of the students but approach wisely. History will not forget a man who turn a village to a city history will also document it a man who turn a city to village.
