Football News: Brazil win first ever gold medal in Olympics

Brazil have finally won gold at the men's football tournament at the Olympic
– The South Americans defeated Germany in a penalty shoot-out to claim the gold medal in the men’s football tournament at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Barcelona striker Neymar scored a beautiful freekick in the 27th minute which sent fans into a frenzy.

The hosts should have added more goals but could not find a way past Suele in defense.The Germans were finally paid when Max Meyer netted a half volley from a Toljan cross in the 59th.Brazil were better side through out the game after the forwards created numerous chances but failed to take their chances.The epic encounter went to penalty shootout  but Nils Petersen failed to convert – and like a written script, Neymar stepped forward to score the winning penalty.

Recall that Germany overcame Nigeria 2 – 0 to get to the final while Brazil defeated Honduras 6 – 0 in their semi-final clash.The gold medal is Brazil’s first in football at the Olympics ever.
